Overview of Modified City Operations

 

As of March 18, City Hall is closed. Please note:

 

  • All business with City departments must be conducted by telephone or email (for a list of contact numbers, click here).  

 

  • A dropbox has been placed next to City Hall’s Sterling Street entrance for items that need to be delivered. 

 

  • Police, Fire, Water Treatment Sewage Treatment, Refuse, Bus and Paratransit services will continue as normal. 

 

  • Water and sewer repairs will be made on an emergency basis.

 

  • Monday, March 16, 2020, will be the last City Council meeting the public will be able to attend during this unprecedented pandemic. The City Council will continue to conduct business and work sessions. All meetings are streamed live for the public, items dealing with the need for public hearings will be postponed at this time.

 

City Refuse and Recycling Service Changes

 

The Department of Public Works refuse crews will continue to provide refuse and recycling services to City residents on their regularly scheduled days. However, please note:

 

  • Leaf bags and/or brush are still being picked up. We encourage residents who may be home practicing "social distancing" to use this opportunity to remove leaves and brush from their property.

  • Establishing services for new refuse tote customers has been temporarily suspended

​

  • The City’s blue trash stickers can be used, and can be purchased at the following retailers:​​

    • General Store, 816 Bradley Street 

    • Gold Star Deli, 343 Arsenal Street 

    • Hannaford, Outer Arsenal Street 

    • Kinney Drugs, Washington, Coffeen, State Streets and Seaway Plaza 

    • Noble Ace Hardware, 531 State Street 

    • TOPS Markets, Seaway Plaza and 1330 Washington Street

    • Byrne Dairy, 1003 Coffeen Street

    • Fastrac, Outer Arsenal Street and State Street locations 

 

Emergency Alert System

 

The City has established a notification system to relay information to the public during this time of concern. This system will allow City officials to send out alerts and updates on our governmental operations during the Coronavirus pandemic. CitiBus Updates

​

CitiBus and CitiBus Paratransit services are continuing to operate. Please note that in an effort to increase the physical distance between riders, we have limited seating capacity in accordance with CDC/Health Department guidelines. CitiBus will add additional buses and/or modify routes to accommodate the reduced seating capacity as needed.

​

CitiBus is continuing daily cleaning and disinfection processes with additional cleaning staff. We encourage riders to please follow all personal hygiene guidance by washing hands frequently, containing coughs and avoiding unnecessary trips. 

​

As of April 3rd, CitiBus will be expanding its "B route" to include stops at WalMart and Target In an effort to provide residents with access to a larger number of grocery store options.
